Planet Arda
- My animal is best suited to live in Valimor because of its warm climate and the center of it is a desert (the habitat the cougars live in) and beside it is a grassland (where the cougar can hunt for prey).
- The Valimor has deserts and grasslands in the center. The savanna is located in the south and up north the tundra begins. Valimor is best suited for my animal because of how the regions are placed. The cougar will be able to live in the desert and hunt food close by in the grasslands.
- Planet Arda changed a lot during the ten million year period. Initially it had been an ice age but throughout the years the temperatures began rising. 9,500,000 years ago, volcanic activity disrupted the ice age because it led to the Tundra and Taiga expanding from polar regions, and the sea level dropped 50ft. 9,000,000 years ago volcanic activity was still occurring and led to global warming making the sea level rise. 8,000,000 years ago the ice began melting. From then on temperatures increased until the present where the average global temperature is 20 degrees celsius and volcanic activity returned to normal levels.
- Changes in biomes that are linked to changes in climate include temperature, availability of habitats and type (like caves or trees), food sources, and the survival of vegetation.
- Between predators, like the cougar and the wolves, they would be fighting for the same resources and habitat. Competition would lead to one of them becoming extinct or endangered.
